Four Slow-Grown, Heritage Breed, Free-Range Chickens

£7.50/kg (excl. delivery) or £1.80 per 200g portion (incl. delivery)

Adlingtons Farm slow-grown free-range chickens lead a very natural, free-range life. At our farm near Stonehenge in Wiltshire we ensure that the animals are given unlimited space to roam in, plenty of trees to shade for the hotter days and dust bowls for scratching in.

We have carefully selected a slower-growing breed that takes around 80 days to rear, 2-3 times the life of a supermarket chicken. Our selected breed is well suited to this much longer, natural and more active antibiotic-free lifestyle.

The long and varied life means that the chickens are typically grow to 2kg or more, which is much bigger than you are used to from the supermarkets.

The free range life of our chickens means they have a far more varied diet from the insects and plants around them, and means they recycle nutrients into the soil in their fields too, further strengthening the ecosystem that they live in.

Ours are fed on a diet including locally-grown wheat, maize and whole natural oats, the end product is simply incredible in taste and texture, quite unlike any other. In fact, we even feed them whole apples from 7 weeks to add further enrichment.

We have spent a long time building up a strong reputation and have some well-known fans!

"It was the best [money] I have ever spent. I've never tasted a better bird. It's so exciting to have chicken of this quality on our doorstep."
Gordon Ramsey, The Times

“The texture is wonderful - it also has good flavour. Its quality sings through with every mouthful. It's not really expensive. The trouble is that the chicken we buy in a supermarket is so cheap."
Heston Blumenthal, The Independent
